You can export your domain name's zone file records to use with a third party or to archive. For example, if you want a third party to manage your DNS, you can export the zone file records from us, and then import them into a third-party system. Archiving your DNS records gives you a backup copy of them if you make a mistake while editing your DNS.

The exported data follows the BIND zone file format and RFC 1035. You must manually edit the exported data before the BIND DNS server can use it directly.

To Export a Domain Name's Zone File Records

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. In the My Products section, click Domain Manager.
  3. Click the domain name you want to use.
  4. In the Total DNS section, click Total DNS Control.
  5. Click Import/Export, and then click Export.
  6. Select the location to save the exported file.
