Most of these are variations of a few basic statuses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ACTIVE<\/strong> \u2014 The normal state for a domain name. Active domain names can be used for websites, email, or to register nameservers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>REGISTRAR-HOLD<\/strong> \u2014 The domain name was placed on hold by the registrar and cannot be used or renewed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>REGISTRY-HOLD<\/strong> \u2014 The domain name was placed on hold by the registry and cannot be used.<\/li>\n<li><strong>REGISTRAR-LOCK<\/strong> \u2014 The registrar, often at the request of the domain name registrant, locked the domain name so that its settings cannot be modified.<\/li>\n<li><strong>REGISTRY-LOCK<\/strong> \u2014 The registry locked the domain name so that its settings cannot be modified.<\/li>\n<li><strong>REDEMPTIONPERIOD<\/strong> \u2014 The domain name expired, and the registry is waiting for 30 days as a precautionary measure before releasing it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PENDINGRESTORE<\/strong> \u2014 A domain name that had expired is being restored to ACTIVE status.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PENDINGDELETE<\/strong> \u2014 The domain expired and is no longer available for redemption. The registry is about to erase it.
